Fairly boring

I can't see why this movie is so popular:- Efficient but not overly impressive sprite work with some unfunny audio taken from a video game...

It's almost novel and moderately well made, but really doesn't deserve a place in the top 50, especially not for as long as it has been.

This is a great little movie; you're graphical style is cute and you have a really good sense of movement and cinematics. The sound worked well and the plot was interesting.

My only critisism is that it's too short! I was just getting into it :D

[GG - The RETURN]

Disappointing.

Slightly novel; made me smile for a second, but pretty shit overall. Would have been better if there was more than one scene to it, which I know you could have done fairly easily seeing as clocks/glocks/locks are quite very easy to animate. Try a bit harder plz.

The animation was very nice:- smooth, presentable and generally cool to watch, but to be honest I think if you had set the framerate a wee bit lower in order to stretch the movie out a bit I think it would be better received. It seemed to end kind of abruptly, seeing as the song didn't even reach the chorus.

All in all it would have been better to make a few more little sections before submiting.

Other than that, I don't like the Gorrilaz.

Eye candy

This is freakin genious! I can see what techniques you've used here and it's really very clever and original. I've created 3d effects using motion tweens before, but I never thought of using black shadow to link everything together. I don't think I've ever seen a movie done entirely with a neon sign graphical theme, and you've utilized and exploited the style to it's full extent. A very effective way of creating very colourful 3d scenes; a joy to watch.

I have to ask, did you come up with the technique here or did you see it somewhere else?

Some of the scenes here really made me go "Woah!", like when it did a full rotation around the city from above, that must have taken ages to get right! I can really appreciate the work you put into this and I heartily congratulate you on creating such a work of art.

I give you all my best wishes and hope to see more of this kind of quality from you in the future. Well done and thankyou on behalf of everybody at Newgrounds; we need more of this kind of tenacity.

Graphics: The drawings were good. Very presentable and pleasing on the eye. You draw well and have a good sense of aesthetics.

Style: Usually, I grade style on the quality of animation, as in my eye graphics and animation are very seperate skills. The animation in this movie was mediocre, -the walking cycles were the worst part- but it kinda worked with the movie and it wasn't too horrible looking. Try to make the walking cycles more realistic by making the feet and parts of the legs move independantly. The actual "Style" of the movie was very nice; everything went together well and you represent the metalhead culture very effectively.

Sound: Although I like your taste in music, the sound in this movie wasn't executed very well:- the emo music at the beggining cut out very suddenly; and the lack of a voice for the metalhead was slightly disapointing.

Violence: The violence was one of the best parts of this movie. It was all very well done apart from some of the blood effects, which didn't look hugely beleivable. Use streaks of darker shades of red to outline detail of things the blood is splattered on.

Interactivity: NG Preloader. Very efficient ;)

Humor: This movie made me laugh. It was a good idea and it was put together very well. It's good to see some decent metal Flash on NG.

[Tween Animation Tut 1]

This is shit

This is one of the most horrible tutorials I have come across.

It looks horrible, the music is horrible, the animation is horrible, and the actualy tutorial part is vague, hard to follow, and fairly useless.

All you did say how to convert to symbols, you didn't really actaully go through how to tween something.

You also need screenshots from Flash as illustrations.

This was quite dumb, but it made me chuckle. I gave you a 2.

Hmmm...

This wasn't a hugely impressive movie:- nobody really likes that kind of simple circle character; the facial expressions should have been a bit more dynamic (lip syncing?); the backgrounds probably would have actually looked better if they were coloured properly instead scribbled in like that, and the animation wasn't always hugely beleivable or smooth.

Despite the lack of pleasing aesthetics, this movie does half a chance of passing judgement. The movie is put together well and you chose a good song; quite definitely one of RAtM's best.

You have a decent sense of movement and animation, but try to keep tweens beleivable and flowing. Try playing with the "ease" slider on the properties bar for a tweened frame.

It is good to see some ratm Flash on Newgrounds.
